Pregnancy can be one of the most special and precious stages in life, but often the joys of being pregnant and having a new baby are overshadowed by common symptoms and discomfort that can accompany pregnancy, delivery and postpartum recovery.

We can help you have a comfortable and healthy pregnancy and postpartum recovery!

Natural changes that occur during pregnancy and delivery (vaginal or c-section) impact the muscles and connective tissue of the abdominal wall and pelvic floor contributing to the following problems:

  • Diastasis recti abdominis (DRA) or abdominal separation

  • Pelvic girdle or low back pain

  • Neck and/or mid back pain

  • Urinary or fecal incontinence

  • Urinary or fecal urgency

  • Constipation

  • Pelvic organ prolapse

  • Pelvic pain (during intercourse, urination or just with sitting or wearing pants)

  • Pain or discomfort of perineal or c-section scars

Causes of these problems include structural changes to accommodate the growing fetus, ligament laxity, stretched abdominal wall and pelvic floor muscles, hormonal changes, and tension in the posterior core and hip muscles. Additionally, perineal tears/episiotomies or c-sections can impact function of the pelvic floor, abdominal wall muscles and surrounding joints and muscles (ie the whole body).

On top of these changes, the demands placed on your body as a new mom are different than before pregnancy. Strengthening your body in a specific and individual way to adjust to these demands can greatly improve your quality of life!
