Amanda Nayfield, DPT, WCS

Dr. Amanda Nayfield (she/her) is a doctor of physical therapy, board certified clinical pelvic health specialist and founder/owner of Connect NW Physical Therapy & Wellness. During physical therapy school at the University of Montana, she developed a special interest in pelvic health and completed continuing education courses and mentorship in pelvic floor dysfunction before graduating. Right out of school, she focused her practice in pelvic health and earned her board certification as a women’s health clinical specialist through the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties in 2016.

She has advanced training in manual therapy and visceral mobilization and treats a variety of orthopedic concerns including dysfunction in the spine, pelvis, hip and extremities. Direct pelvic floor assessment and treatment is often required to resolve issues such as pelvic pain or incontinence, but dysfunction in other areas of the body are often driving the pelvic floor issue and must be addressed! When treating any condition, Amanda utilizes an eclectic and holistic assessment and treatment approach by looking at the body as a whole to determine all of the factors contributing to an individual's main concern.

Amanda grew up in Colorado and spent 9 years in Montana, so she feels most at home in the Mountains. During her free time, she loves to embark on outdoor adventures with her husband and two kiddos. Some of her favorite activities include running, hiking, rock climbing, and biking.

Amy Lush, DPT

Dr. Amy Lush (she/her) received her doctorate in physical therapy at Northeastern University in Boston in 2012, and spent years traveling to various practice locations along the west coast. During that time, she built a wealth of experience in the inpatient setting, helping people with a wide variety of diagnoses.

Throughout the past several years, she developed an interest in pelvic health and started taking courses through the Herman & Wallace Pelvic Institute. While she enjoys helping people with a variety of pelvic health issues, she has a special interest in sexual health. She finds fulfillment in providing education about sexual health and helping people overcome feelings of embarrassment or shame. She is excited to support her clients by helping them approach sexual health with curiosity and self-empowerment.

Amy approaches physical therapy with the perspective that she and her clients work as a team to achieve the client’s individual goals. She enjoys helping her clients gain confidence in doing what they want and need to do with tools that lead to independence and self-management of their care. She also strives to provide a safe and welcoming environment for every person and welcomes diverse stories and backgrounds. She strives to create a space where anyone can feel comfortable and safe to tell their story.

When she is not working with clients, she loves spending time hiking, reading, and trying to cook new foods. She recently started weight lifting and enjoys doing yoga, and lindy hop dance classes whenever she gets the chance. Amy is excited to explore Bellingham and get to know the local communities and believes in the rule of abundance rather than scarcity. The best communities are ones that build each other up!

Sonja Hinz, PTA, MA TPS

Sonja Hinz (she/her) developed an interest in pelvic health during her years as a student and new mom. Since that time she has pursued ongoing education in the realm of pelvic therapy through the Herman & Wallace Institute as well as extensive mentorship with the talented PTs she has worked alongside. Her background in dance performance, instruction, and academia along with advanced movement observation informs a whole-picture view of each individual - how they move, how they learn, and how they connect with the world around them. She believes that living fully means living as a truly embodied being, and she loves helping people find both subtle and monumental ways to feel fully alive in their brain-body.

Sonja also has extensive training with the Institute of Physical Art, which involves hands-on techniques to help people move with less effort and more fluency. In addition, she holds a Therapeutic Pain Specialist (TPS) certification. TPS graduates have advanced training on neuroscience, especially as it pertains to pain and neuroplasticity. In other words, we all have the capacity to do amazing things and, despite injuries, trauma, and setbacks, we all have the potential to heal, grow, and return to the things that bring us the most joy in life. Joy of living, being alive in your body, making connections with yourself and the world around you - this is Sonja's ultimate goal for herself and others.

Outside of work, Sonja loves to garden, preserve food, bake healthy goodies, and be outside with her family and friends, especially at the beach or way up in the mountains. Although she has lived out of state and abroad and traveled extensively, she always comes home to the beauty of Whatcom county. She holds a BA in Anthropology from WWU, an MA in Dance from UHM, and an AS in Physical Therapy from WCC.
